The Artpad starts off as very basic program with a pixel limit of 2. The only tool it comes with is the pixel setter, which must have coordinates typed into it to place pixels on the canvas. This makes the Artpad almost usable except for making basic gradient skins. However, Artpad can be upgraded through to Shiftorium to a fully featured graphics editor.

Artpad is a in game image editor first added in 0.0.7 beta 1. It is intended for the creation of skins (for more see Skinning) and saves in the *.pic format. This file format was created by DevX specifically for ShiftOS.
