Shiftnet is an in-game application used to access "websites" used to move further along in the story line.

Websites
Currently there are two websites- Appscape, which is like the Shiftorium in which you get applications, and Minimatch, which is a website where user-created games are put up for download.

Development
DevX (Philip Adams) originally started Shiftnet and coded Appscape but William1008 has since continued development since DevX handed the game over to the community.

Cost
The price of the upgrade is currently unknown. The Shiftnet is free and comes with the download in the alpha versions of 0.0.8. In the final version it will have to be bought.

ShiftOS is an in-development video game for Microsoft Windows operating systems from Philip Adams, who is best known for the game Histacom and his online show, OSFirstTimer.

History
ShiftOS started as an Arch Linux distro idea, which in it, every boot of the distro, will be a different experience. The idea is explained in the Arch Linux Forum: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1321642.

Philip, however, drew back from the idea after realising that the distro will be difficult to make.

He went on to making the game that we know today, using Visual Studio Express 2012.

The first version, 0.0.1, was released on 11/11/13. The second version, 0.0.2, was released the following day.

Plot
The game starts off with the player's computer getting hijacked by DevX. The player is then informed that he was "involuntarily selected" to be an alpha tester for ShiftOS. The in-game computer's hard disk is then formatted with the fictional file system ShiftFS and ShiftOS is installed. After installation, DevX contacts the player with some basic information on how to use ShiftOS' command line.

Gameplay
After the opening sequence, the player gains the ability to use the in-game operating system's command line to open a basic set of programs, which show basic black and white graphics (aside from the Video Player and Web Browser). ShiftOS' virtual currency, Code Points, can be used in the Shiftorium to upgrade the operating system with new features (such as colors and the App Launcher) and additional software (such as TextPad and ArtPad). Code Points can be earned by playing minigames such as Pong, Knowledge Input or by customizing the operating system using the Shifter.

System Reqiurements
OS: Windows Vista and above.

Additional software required: Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5

Storage: Hard disk drive with at least 1 MB (Files stored on C:\ShiftOS)

Memory: 512 or more MB of RAM.

Welcome to the Shift OS Wiki
ShiftOS is a game currently being developed by a team of developers, handpicked by former developer, Philip Adams. Development of ShiftOS started in November 2013 and various early builds of ShiftOS have been released since then. ShiftOS was made in Visual Basic.NET so you need to have the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 installed on your computer before you can play it. The game is based on a operating system on your computer called "ShiftOS" which is randomly installed during a remote hijack attempt on your computer made by DevX, the developer of ShiftOS (within the game). Initially you get a complete command line interface to play around with and the whole objective is to take it from a extremely simple OS to a completely modern OS, by upgrading and customizing your OS step by step. Each upgrade uses up a virtual currency called "Code Points" (referred as "CP" in the game in some places), which you can earn by playing minigames such as Knowledge Input and Pong.
